Compare Arbiter Group Ranking to Pensra RankingPrintable

Youth soccer matches have been given a default Difficulty ranking. Referees have been also been given a ranking considering their experience and training. (Actually referees get two rankings, one as the Referee and one as the Assistant Referee.) These rankings are used to facilitate Self-Assign. A referee with a ranking of X or higher can Self-Assign themselves to any Match with a difficulty ranking of X or below. Occasionally, assignors may note their matches as more difficult or easier than these default values.

The Arbiter Group (Arbiter) that services DeAnza, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Los Altos, and the West Valley areas also has a ranking system. In the Arbiter system referees are given a rank and they can work matches of the same rank or higher.

The Arbiter system has 18 gradations. The Pensra system has 8 gradations. The Arbiter has 10 different match competition levels. The Pensra system has 3. Consequently the cross mapping between these systems will not be perfect.

Furthermore it is awkward that the two systems scale in opposite directions.

Pensra Ranking: The higher the number the stronger the referee.

Pensra Ranking: Low=1 High=8

Arbiter Ranking: The lower the number the stronger the referee.

Arbiter Ranking: Low=950 High=100
